How It Works

Mindfulness meditation is a simple, powerful practice proven to reduce stress and anxiety, while improving perceptions of self-awareness, mental focus, and emotional wellbeing. Just ten minutes a day can make a meaningful difference to your mental health.

Nowadays many of us spend a lot of time in our stress response, also called ‘fight or flight’, triggered by our sympathetic nervous system. This response is essential at points, but when consistently activated by day-to-day stresses and strains, it affects our well-being.

We can’t avoid all stress, but the good news is that we can develop healthy ways of responding to stress via a range of simple tools, including mindfulness and meditation. To help you get started, or to inspire a deepening in an existing practice, we’re hosting a live 7-day course, with expert guidance, community support and daily practices.

Hosted by Ella Mills and led by Jess Wood, together they’ll guide you through the basics of mindfulness, helping you unlock the power of the practice.

What’s Involved

  • 10-minute daily morning mindfulness meditation

  • 7-minute daily evening affirmation practice

  • 3x 1hour live zoom sessions with Ella and Jess to delve deeper into the practice. Learning how to ground your energy and self-regulate, how to move out of a negative headspace, the power of affirmations and how to start a mindfulness practice.

  • Further optional meditations on day 2 and 5 which can be done anytime

Live Session 1: Mindfulness and Finding Joy in the Present Moment

This session will focus on how being mindful can help us feel more joy and contentment in our lives. It will focus on teaching you how to use mindfulness-based practices to ground your energy, slow down and take time to be in the present. By learning how to come back to the now, we allow ourselves to find connection to the moment, appreciate our abundance and take pleasure in life’s simple moments.

The Structure of the Session

A live group meditation, Jess and Ella on feeling grounded in the body, using the breath to draw the energy out of the mind and into the body and bringing awareness as to what it feels like to be present, and a Q&A to get you feel ready to start your mindfulness journey.

Live Session 2: Learning to Manage Negative Thoughts, Rewire the Brain and Shift Our Outlook

This session will continue to build on the ideas from session one, exploring the topic of self-awareness; how we can reframe our thinking to build resilience and a sense of ease. By learning to monitor our thoughts, eliminate negative self-talk and feed the subconscious mind we can cultivate deeper self-awareness. We’ll be looking at tools to bring this thinking into our daily lives.

  1. What’s the story I’m telling myself?

  2. What is the truth behind the story?

  3. What am I catastrophizing?

  4. How can I reframe this?

Live Session 3: The Power of Choice

In this final session, we’ll explore the power of a consistent mindfulness practice to help you choose the narrative of your life. We often have the power to decide how we respond to triggers and stressful situations in our lives. Once you start to find that sacred pause between the stimulus and the response, life takes a very different turn and the magic of mindfulness unfolds. We can’t change or control the external, but we can change our internal world and our relationship to everything around us.
