Classic Hummus Step-by-Step

Ingredients:

X2 400g can chickpeas, drained and washed

3 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons tahini

Juice of 1 lemon

1 garlic clove, peeled and roasted for 10 minutes

1 teaspoon ground cumin

Pinch of sea salt flakes

Method:

Simply place all of the ingredients into a food processor and pulse until smooth and creamy. Adding a splash of water makes the hummus even more creamy.

 

We like to add ground cumin to our hummus to make it taste a little nutty and spicy. You can leave this out for a plainer flavour, or replace it with other spices – cayenne pepper, paprika and chilli all taste delicious and give a more intense flavour to the hummus. 

If you have time, roasting your chickpeas creates an even deeper, earthy flavour in the hummus. Simply place the chickpeas in an oven heated at 180c, fan setting. Drizzle the chickpeas in a little olive oil and salt, and roast for 10-15 minutes until golden. Leave them to cool a little before adding to the food processor.
