Natural Beauty: Oatmeal, Honey and Banana Scrub Mask

This is a two in one beauty product – it’s half an exfoliating face scrub and half a soothing face mask, which is pretty awesome! When you put the mask on you rub the banana, oat and honey mix into your skin for a few minutes, during this time the oats gently rub off all the dry, dead skin cells from your face, so that it becomes wonderful clean and amazingly smooth. Once it’s nicely rubbed in you then leave the mask on for about an hour, the mask is pretty much clear by this time as the oats have all been rubbed off so it’s primarily banana and honey, which together are incredibly soothing. By the time you wash the mask off you’ll be seriously glowing!

I know that lots of you might be reading this thinking ok but why would I rub porridge ingredients over my face, I totally understand that it sounds weird but trust me, it’s amazing and it does absolute wonders for your skin! The oats are amazing for your complexion as they contain a fantastic array of amino acids, which help to heal blemishes and repair damaged skin, they also have great moisturising, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties – all of which help you to glow! These effects are really heightened by the addition of raw honey, which is very antibacterial so together they’ll help to relieve tired, inflamed skin and combat any blemishes or spots, while the banana adds an array of skin boosting vitamins, including the two most important ones for beautiful skin (vitamins A and E), which enhance all your natural beauty!

Makes 2 scrub masks (so that you can share this awesomeness with a friend!)

– 2 tablespoons of oats

– 1/2 a ripe banana

– 1 teaspoon of raw honey

Simply slice up the banana, then mash it with a fork – once the banana has been mashed mix in the oats and honey. Do this all by hand, rather than doing it in a blender as it will become too runny and just slide off your face so you won’t really get a scrub or an exfoliation! Then massage the scrub into your skin for a few minutes, I would suggest doing this leaning over your sink as the oats will come off your face during this time and can just fall in the sink. Leave the rest of the mask on for about an hour, then wash off with warm water and pat dry.
