When you’re feeling low in energy, a bit sluggish, or your mood is a little low, it can be hard to motivate yourself to do something about it. That’s why we’ve pulled together this list of short but effective classes to help you feel better in next to no time. All the classes are under 30 minutes and are designed to be done at home, whenever suits you.
If you don’t enjoy the way you exercise, you likely won’t keep it up. Find what works for you, then prioritise consistency, even if that means doing very short classes. 5-10 minutes is better than nothing!
If you’re new to exercise, start slowly and gradually build up, don’t overwhelm yourself on day one! It’ll help prevent burnout and help make exercising a habit you look forward to, rather than dread.
Try different classes and see how they affect your mood. If you’re feeling tired and a little sluggish, perhaps choose a gentle yoga flow, and on the days you’re full of energy and looking for a challenge, try a sweaty cardio-focused session for an even bigger mood boost.
Sleep is key to good mental health, and when you’re exercising regularly you also need that time to let your muscles repair. The good news is that exercise can improve your sleep quality, making getting those 7-9 hours a little easier.
To feel the full benefits of exercise on your mood, you need to be consistent, as the benefits add up over time, so thinking little and often is much more powerful than one big session each week.
