15 Best Plant-Based Dips

Looking for a nourishing snack to satisfy those mid-afternoon hunger pangs? A delicious dip made from a handful of veg and store-cupboard staples, like tinned chickpeas or beans, paired with crunchy crackers or crudités, is one of our go-to combinations. Plus, they’re a simple way to up your weekly plant intake.

Even if you’re only preparing it for a quick snack or pre-dinner appetiser, we recommend whipping up the full batch (or even double) in one-go, as these dips also elevate any breakfast spread on fresh sourdough, and are a great addition to a simple lunchtime salad. Opt for a chickpea or bean-based dip to get in a boost of protein, and feel free to get creative with extra toppings – we love topping our hummus with pesto or pan-fried tomatoes for added flavour. For something a little creamier, a citrusy guacamole is always a favourite, but we also love dips made with flavour-packed roasted veg like peppers and aubergine.

P.S. If you’re making a dip as part of a hosting spread, be sure to top your bowl with fresh herbs, seeds, and a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil. It transforms a quick and easy dip into something a little more special!

Classic Hummus

We’ve given our simple hummus a bit of an update here to make it even more delicious for you. I make this every week, it’s a great thing to have in the fridge as it’s so versatile. I love dipping crunchy vegetables into it, spreading it onto open faced rye sandwiches, dolloping it on top of lunch bowls or using it as a side with a lunch time salad. If you make a big batch, store it in an airtight container in the fridge for about five days.
