Apple, Pear, Avocado and Spinach Smoothie

The combination ofΒ apple, pear, avocado and spinach might sound a little strange, but together these four beautiful ingredients create an amazing blend of flavours, with the apple and pear sweetening the veggies. I think the avocado initially puts some people off – I guess maybe it sounds like a weird smoothie ingredient – but as you all know I use avocado in everything!

Makes 1 large glass

– 2 red apples (they’re sweeter than green)

– 1 pear

– 1 small avocado

– a large handful of fresh spinach leaves (35g)

Optional – I always add all of these but they’re not essential

– 1 teaspoon of manuka honey

– 1 teaspoon of hemp protein

– 1 teaspoon of chia seeds

– 1 teaspoon of flax seeds

Simply juice the apples and pear, then add the juice to your blender along with the avocado fresh, spinach leaves and any of the extras that you want. Then blend until smooth. Pour, sip and love. This is going to make you feel beautiful!

So it’s january, which means everyone seems to be trying some form of cleanse or diet. If you’re one of these people trying to find a new, healthier you then congratulations! I really hope you’re enjoying a healthy eating lifestyle, filled with all of nature’s goodness and that you’re feeling fantastic about yourself. To help everyone out a little I thought I’d share you one of my favourite cleansing smoothies. It’s lovely and filling, which makes it great for this time of the year when you’re looking for something comforting to battle the cold, grey days! But don’t worry it’s still wonderfully green, detoxifying and healthy beyond belief! It’s like goodness in a glass.

I think the avocado initially puts some people off – I guess maybe it sounds like a weird smoothie ingredient – but as you all know I use avocado in everything, as it makes a fantastically creamy, wonderfully healthy substitute for dairy. So here there is no need for any yoghurt, which is awesome.

A glass of this will set you up perfectly for your day, and you’ll feel fantastic. Not only because of all the goodness and nutrition that you’re drinking, but also because there’s always a sense of pride and happiness associated with knowing that you’re doing what you can to look and feel your best. I think consciously looking after your body really instills an awesome sense of pride and self worth, which everyone needs a little extra of most of the time.
