Ever since the delis introduced our delicious matcha lattes onto the menu our customers have seemed to become slightly obsessed! Ella, who doesn’t like depriving her cravings, has been trying to eat a little less sugar recently, as she is quite the Pecan Brownie and Energy Ball addict! So for her, the matcha latte is the perfect balance, it hits the sweet tooth just right, and also it sorts out her sleepiness in one easy hit. Matcha is so good for you, it’s like a super strong green tea, and when steamed with brown rice milk it makes a really sweet, creamy hot drink that is hard to say no to! Matcha is quite expensive to buy, but you only use half a teaspoon in each mug so it doesn’t work out to be as expensive as it seems in the long run as one small box will last you ages. - 1 mug of brown rice milk (I use this as it’s naturally sweet and I find the consistency is great for the drink!)
- ½ a teaspoon of matcha powder
- Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey
If you have a milk steamer then use this. Simply whisk the milk and matcha together with a fork, then steam them until hot.
If you don’t have a steamer then use a handheld milk-frother. Heat the milk and matcha in a pan while you froth it until it’s hot, mixed and creamy!
If you’re adding honey stir then in at the end, whichever method you’re using.
