Ever since we started selling matcha lattes at the deli I’ve become totally obsessed with them and seem to need one every day now! I’ve been trying to eat a little less sugar recently, as I am quite a raw brownie and energy bite addict and often end up eating piles and piles of them! I’m not a fan of depriving cravings though, so I still like to sate my sweet tooth and I’ve found that this sorts out my sleepiness and sugar cravings in one easy hit. Matcha is so good for us, it’s like a super strong green tea, and when steamed with brown rice milk it makes a really sweet, creamy hot drink that I just love! Matcha is quite expensive to buy, but you only use half a teaspoon in each mug so it doesn’t work out to be as expensive as it seems in the long run as one small box will last you ages.
1 mug of brown rice milk (I use this as it’s naturally sweet and I find the consistency is great for the drink!)
1/2 a teaspoon of matcha powder
Optional: 1 teaspoon of honey
If you have a milk steamer then use this. Simply whisk the milk and matcha together with a fork, then steam them until hot.
If you don’t have a steamer then use a handheld milk-frother. Heat the milk and matcha in a pan while you froth it until it’s hot, mixed and creamy!
If you’re adding honey stir then in at the end, whichever method you’re using.
